College moves to North Avenue campus.

A single building (later named Houston Hall) houses all college activities.

Japanese forces attack U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor.

Gasoline is rationed.

Mavericks IJCC track and football champions.

Football team receives national recognition.

Hell week"Most outstanding week of the school year is Hell Week, bringing seven days of unshaven laddies and haggard lassies who, devoid of makeup, look like a pack of starving zombies. Hell Week requires all freshmen to wear monkey-looking dinkies. The men go unshaven with hair parted in the middle and plastered to each side of the head." Television comes into commercial use in the United States.

British and U.S. forces liberate France.

Ballpoint pins hit the U.S. market.

Veterans Counseling Center established

Vo-tech curriculum launched

38 nations meet and draw up the United Nations charter.

The Allies complete the conquest of Germany.

The United States drops atomic bombs on two cities in Japan.

U.S. divorce rate reaches the world's highest rate at 31%

"Bebop" craze sweeps the nation.

Summer school inaugurated

Enrollment exceeds 700

Mavericks leave IJCC and enter Colorado Junior College Athletic Conference.

Mary Rait buildingWomen´s dorm, Mary Rait Hall, on College Place occupied. It becomes the second permanent campus building.

Cold War crisis emerge as Russia blockades Berlin. Tension mounts in Germany.

The State of Israel is proclaimed.

1949

Mavericks win CJCC championships in basketball and tennis.

New 2,300-seat Lincoln Park stadium dedicated.
