bureau data show that the average annual income of a male aged
25 and older with a bachelor's degree is $53,152, compared with
the average annual income of $29,958 for high school graduates.
Over a 40 year period, this difference totals nearly $1 million
more for the college graduate. Whereas the holder of a professional
degree earns $3.2 million more than high school graduates.
Students are finding that Mesa State is not only a great educational
buy, but that it also provides a student-focused learning envionment
that is condusive to gaining hands-on, real world experience.
Mesa State's enrollment has increased nearly 19% since 2000,
making it one the fastest growing four-year institutions in
Colorado. With a record enrollment of 6,181 students, Mesa State
grew by more than 7% in just one year and this rapid growth
trend is projected to continue.
Mesa State's Nursing Department helps meet the nation, state
and region's demand for nurses.
Our
nursing program is accredited by the American Association of Colleges
of Nursing, as well as the Colorado State Board of Nursing. This
program is designed for high school graduates, associate and diploma
RN's and LPN's. The four-year program provides educational experiences
to prepare a professional nurse generalist to practice in a variety
of health care settings and will also provide a nurse with the
foundation for graduate study in nursing. Graduates of this program
have maintained a 90-100% pass rate on the National Council for
Licensure Examination (NCLEX), the examination RNs must pass to
obtain a license to practice.
Mesa State is connecting Colorado to the future through information
technology.
America will need an additional 2.6 million information technology
professionals by 2006. To meet this demand, Mesa State offers
a computer information systems degree and a computer science degree.
Mesa State has also developed strategic partnerships with Grand
Valley-based companies and public agencies to ensure that our
graduates have the practical training and the teamwork, communications,and
critical thinking skills needed by today's employers.

Mesa
State provides western Colorado residents with the opportunity
to enjoy the kind of world-class art and entertainment normally
found only in urban areas. More than 20,000 people attend visit
our campus for cultural events, including art receptions, theatre
performances and vocal and instrumental music concerts.
Mesa State brings an culturally diverse perspective to the Grand
Valley. Home to a number of international students, Mesa State
enriches intellectual life and fosters multicultural understanding.
Mesa State presents Grand Valley residents with opportunities
for international experiences and travel abroad. Three Mesa State
faculty members were selected for Fulbright Scholarships for worldwide
teaching and research in the past year.

Mesa State has a long-standing involvement in workforce development.
Mesa State enrolls approximately 750 students in associate-degree
level occupational and technical programs, thus equipping them
with practical skills that make them productive employees immediately
upon graduation. Mesa State also offers Lifelong Learning courses
through the Community Education Centon the Bishop Campus, which
promotes community development.
A Masters of Business Administration program is conveniently offered.
The Mesa State College MBA is a challenging program designed
to prepare graduates to manage organizations in a changing world.
The skills and knowledge acquired and developed during the program
can help any individual contribute more effectively to society.
The program is offered at night for the convenience of working
students.
The
Mesa State Library puts vast resources at your fingertips.
Grand
Valley and regional community members may access books, periodicals,
and other information resources. The Mesa State Tomlinson Library
is the largest academic library between Salt Lake City and Denver,
with over 300,000 books, 855 print journals, 700,000 microforms,
14,000 maps, and 10,000 audio visual items. The library subscribes
to over 50 online databases, with access to over 12,000 journal
articles online as well as over 7,000 e-books and 637 e-journals.
The Tomlinson Library is open 90 hours a week, can seat 550 students,
and has 90 computer stations.

Mesa State teams have won more than 50 conference championships.
Mesa State was honored this past fall as being one of the best
when it comes to graduating its student athletes. The graduation
rate for student athletes was 36% higher than the overall student
body average and 34% higher than the class of 2001.
