The Colorado National Monument

The Colorado National Monument is one of the world's finest treasures and it happens to sit in Mesa State's backyard. The Colorado National Monument was established May 24, 1911. The area is filled with monolithic sandstone, sheer cliffs, deep canyons and more. The area is rich in both history and beauty. Golden eagles, mule deer, bighorn sheep and mountain lions make this their home.

The area is often described by visitors as being "awe inspiring," "magical," "stunning," and "magnificent!" A visit to the Colorado National Monument is a visit you will never forget. Numerous hiking trails exist for all skill levels and interests. Photographers will delight in the unmatched views and opportunities.
