Tolman Hall is one of the residence options for students
at Mesa State College. Tolman Hall is coed and houses 195
students. The rooms are furnished and carpeted. Furnishings
include two beds, two closets, two desks, and two desk chairs.
There are also balconies on most 2nd and 3rd floor rooms.
Tolman includes community bathrooms, a kitchen, study lounge,
TV lounge, laundry rooms (free), and vending machines. Secured
doors open to a staffed desk entry area to provide exceptional
security for residents. Phone, cable, and data connections
are provided for each student.
Tolman Hall is named for former Dean of Students and Coach
Jay Tolman. Tolman worked at Mesa from 1946-1976, coaching
championship teams in Football, Basketball, and Track. Tolman's
athletic activities were not just felt on campus, but around
the Grand Junction community where one of his legacies lives
on today. As a Regional Director for the National Junior College
Athletic Association (NJCAA), Tolman was responsible for making
Grand Junction the host of the Junior College World Series.
Despite Mesa State advancing to become a 4-year institution
in 1972, Grand Junction continues to host the JUCO World Series
each May.
