The FLEX account is another prepaid account that is optional, and is directly deposited on the MAVcard. The FLEX account can be used in several MSC departments around campus. These departments include the library, Bookstore, Business Office, Parking Services, Recreation Center, Information Desk, and Outdoor Program. FLEX account deposits can be made in the MAVcard Office located in the College Center as well as the Business Office in Lowell Heiny Hall.
This account is highly used in the Bookstore, as the Bookstore does not allow students to use their parents/guardians credit cards as a form of payment, unless the parents/guardians are present at the time. Parents are also not able to pay over the phone for Bookstore purchases. However, a parent/guardian can call into the MAVcard office and deposit money into their students FLEX account. At this point students complete their Bookstore purchase by swiping their MAVcard at the Bookstore registers.
FLEX money can also be transferred over to the card holder's MAVmoney account in the event that a patron has deposited too much money in their FLEX account or if they need MAVmoney for food related purchases. Once transferred to MAVmoney, deposits can not be transferred back to the FLEX account.
