Using Durable Links in WebCT
When you use a hyperlink in WebCT that
targets an article in a library-licensed database, you will need
to use a durable link (also known as a persistent link). See instructions
below. They are specific to individual databases.
Ebsco databases (Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier, CINAHL, Communication & Mas Media Complete, Fuente Academica, Mas Ultra, MedicLatina, Military & Government Collection, Primary Search, and Regional Business News)

JSTOR
Project Muse
BioOne
Using hyperlinks in Word Documents
1. GET HYPERLINK
Ebsco databases – Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier, CINAHL, Communication & Mas Media Complete, Fuente Academica, Mas Ultra, MedicLatina, Military & Government Collection, Primary Search, and Regional Business News.
Example: Look for the “Persistent link to this record – For illustrative purposes this area is highlighted in green

Highlight the actual link (shown here in yellow), hold down the control key (Ctrl) and press the letter c.

Copy either the HTML (highlighted here in green) or the PDF link (highlighted in yellow).

JSTOR
Click on “Citation/Stable URL” at either the top or the bottom of the web page. Highlighted here in gray.

Copy the stable url (highlighted here in green)

Paste this into word pad or note pad. In order to be accessible to remote users as well as those students on campus, you will need to replace"links.jstor.org" with "0-links.jstor.org.www.millennium.marmot.org"
Example:
Before replacement: http://links.jstor.org/sici?sici=00979740
After replacement:
http://0-links.jstor.org.www.millennium.marmot.org/sici?sici=0097-9740

Copy the url from the address area of the web browser. Highlighted here in green.
Paste this into word pad or note pad. In order to be accessible to remote users as well as those students on campus, you will need to replace"muse.jhu.edu" with "0-muse.jhu.edu.www.millennium.marmot.org"
Example:

After replacement:

Placing the link in a Word document:
If you are making your document in Microsoft Word, highlight the text you wish to link (for example the title),

Hold down the control key (Ctrl) and press the letter k .This will open a hyperlink dialog box with the cursor in the address box. (highlighted here in green)

Copy the durable link. Paste the durable link by holding down the control key (Ctrl) and pressing the letter v.

Press OK.
The text should now be in blue to indicate hyperlink.
