Who do I contact to register for classes?
- Newly admitted degree-seeking students should attend an Orientation Program through the Admissions Office
at (970)248-1875.
- Transfer students may register online or in person. Contact the Transfer Center at 970-248-1232 or the Advising & Career Center at 970-248-1177 for assistance
if needed.
- Non-Degree seeking students may register online or in person at the Registrar's Office, Montrose Office,
or Student Services at Western Colorado Community College.
- High School Students in the Fast Track or Early Scholar
Program must work with their High School Counselor and the Admissions
Office to enroll in classes.
How do I know which classes to take?
You should verify that the courses are appropriate to your educational
background. One way to do this is to check out the course description in the MSC Catalog and look at the level of the course.
- New students will be meeting with an Advisor during Orientation to assist with this process.
- Transfer students are encouraged to speak with the advisor in their major discipline, but can use the Transfer Center or Academic Advising for the first semester at Mesa State College.
- Guest students who are only taking a course for the summer semester
should verify with their home school that the course will transfer
back as planned.
- Non-Degree seeking students should make sure they meet the course pre-requisites.
- High school students should meet with their high school counselor if the courses are needed to graduate. Fast-Track students can make an appointment with the Advising & Career Center.
Are there restrictions to what classes I can take?
Enrollment in a course is accepted on a first-come, first-serve
basis until the course is full. Some courses may require pre-requisites,
co-requisites, or instructor permission as found in the course schedule
and college catalog.
How long do I have to register for classes?
The sooner you register for classes, the more options you will have to choose from. Technically, you can register through the deadline to add classes. It is best to register in advance to give yourself time for the 10 suggested steps for success in addition to avoiding any missed classes.
How do I look up if a class is open?
Prospective students can view classes through the schedule
viewer. Select the term, choose the subject, and click Class
Search. A list of all sections will appear for that subject. Click
on the section title line and it will show the remaining seats.
