NATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE APPLICATION PROCESS

"The universe is made of stories, not atoms." - Unkown
What story will you create for yourself?

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR NATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE (NSE)

     - 2.50 cumulative GPA
     - Have at least one-year of MSC courses completed prior to going on exchange
     - Be a full time student (currently and every semester on exchange)
     - Be in good academic and campus standing.
     - Available to both in-state and out-of-state residents on Plan B

EXCHANGE APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1: Where can I go on exchange?
     - Find the college or university you would like to exchange to on the National Student Exchange website.        In fact it would be a good idea to have a few colleges in mind just in case there is a school that cannot        accept you.
     - Determine if the school offers your major using the NSE majors website.
     - Check out the campus web site to learn more about the school you are interested in.

Step 2: Contact the NSE Coordinator at Mesa State College …
     - Contact Jared Meier in the Admission's Office or Holly Teal in the Registrar's Office to obtain more        material.
     - Even if the campus is available, the NSE Coordinator can assist you to determine whether there are any         other common obstacles.

Step 3: Will this exchange be good for my major?
     - Check with your advisor and get a list of courses you need to take while on exchange. Verify the courses        you need are possibilities at the exchange school by looking in their campus catalog.
     - If available, check out their fall semester schedule using the course schedule book online if you can        find it at the exchange campus web site.

Step 4: Can I afford to go on exchange?
     - In general it costs about the same as going to Mesa State College. You pay the same tuition/fees as if        you were attending at the MSC campus. The difference would be the amount you would pay for housing,        living, and travel expenses. Some campuses may be cheaper and others more expensive. Be sure to        check out the campus budgets and campus details for further costs.

It is now time to APPLY through the NSE Coordinator at Mesa State College…
Since you now have researched a campus that would work both academically and financially, it is time to pick up the NSE application with Jared Meier or Holly Teal. We will contact your school to let them know your exchange intentions. There is a $160 application fee that is due when you turn in the application.

Once accepted into the NSE program and your dream school…
Then the rest of the fun begins. After you receive word from the NSE Coordinator at MSC that your placement was accepted, you will be completing the host school application, registration process, and housing materials for your desired school. Please do not contact the NSE Coordinator at your desired school until you have been officially accepted and signed the Placement Agreement Form.
