Registration Errors

When registering through Maverick Online, you may run across one of these errors. Since some of the errors seem obvious, we have included suggestions/alternatives to assist you in the registration process.

The "Change of Schedule" and "Registration Special Permission" forms are available at the Registrar's Office, Student Services at WCCC, and the Montrose Office.  The student needs to return the signed form back to one of these offices to finalize the process.  Students who are taking online classes or classes at a remote location should call the Registrar's Office at 970-248-1555 to obtain the forms.

Class Restriction The student needs to be a sophomore, junior, or senior before registering in the class. This information can be found in the MSC Catalog in the class description for the class. If the student will meet the class restriction and the class is open, the “Registration Special Permission” form can be used to add the class prior to the first day of classes.
Closed Class The class is full and there is not an online waitlist. The student can check for openings up until the day before the semester starts, check for openings in other sections of the class, add a different class, or attempt to add the class during the add/drop period using a “Change of Schedule” form.

Co-Requisite Error (Corq Req)

The student must register for both classes during the same semester. If the student is trying to register for a lecture and a lab, both CRN’s must be entered in the list of classes to add. If the student has taken the co-requisite in a prior semester and the class is open, the “Registration Special Permission” form can be used to add the class prior to the first day of classes.
Duplicate Course Error (Dupl Crse) This means that the student has attempted to register for two different sections of the same department and course number. Some topics classes have the same course number, but a different title. If this is the case and the class is open, the student can stop by the Registrar’s Office prior to the first day of classes to add the class.
Instructor’s Permission The student must have the instructor’s permission to register for the class. If the class is open, the student can add the class using a “Registration Special Permission” form prior to the first day of classes.
Maximum Hours Exceeded It is recommended that students in good standing limit their academic load to 18 semester hours or fewer. Students should bring the "Registration Special Permission" form to their advisor and discuss their situation. However, students earning a cumulative MSC grade point average of 2.00 or lower will be limited to 15 credit hours per semester hour and will not be allowed to exceed that limit.
Preq and Test Score Error Specified prerequisites must be met before registering for this class. This information can be found in the MSC Catalog in the class description for the class. If the student meets the requirements and the class is open, a student can add the class using a “Registration Special Permission” form prior to the first day of classes.
Time Conflict The student is trying to register for a class that meets at the same time and day of another class that he or she is already registered for. Use the “Look up Classes to Add” option from the Registration Menu in Maverick On-line to see the most up-to-date class meeting information.
Waitlist Errors
Closed – 001 Waitlisted The class is closed, but has an online waitlist available. The numbers preceding the word “Waitlisted” indicates the number of students currently on the waitlist. The student may add to the waitlist or not by choosing “Waitlist” or “None” from add/drop page in Maverick On-line.
Closed – Waitlist Full There are no spaces available in the class or on the waitlist. The student should check for openings up until the day before the semester starts or check for openings in other sections of the class.
Open – 001 Waitlisted The class has space available and the next waitlisted student will be moved into the available space. The student may add to the waitlist or not by choosing “Waitlist” or “None” from add/drop page in Maverick On-line.

Open – Waitlist Full

The class has space available and the next waitlisted student will be moved into the available space. The student cannot add to the waitlist at this time. The student should check for openings up until the day before the semester starts or look for openings in other sections of the class.
