Sport and Fitness Management Track in the MBA
Program
The Department of Kinesiology in conjunction with the Business Division
of of Business and Professional Studies has added a sport and fitness
management track to the MBA program.
The MBA program consists of the following 24-hour core:

Plus 12 hours of general business electives are completed for a total
program of 36 hours.
The Sport and Fitness Management track consists of the following
courses:

Facility and Equipment Management in Sport Fitness |
3 credit hours |
Provides an in-depth study of the facilities and equipment used in
a variety of sport and fitness settings, from public to private organizations,
educational settings, athletics (interscholastic, intercollegiate,
and professional sports) as well as commercial and corporate fitness
centers. The focus is on designing, planning, funding, and maintaining
a facility as well as the equipment necessary for its successful operation.

Event and Program Management in Sport and Fitness |
3 credit hours |
Duties and responsibilities of sport and fitness managers in creating
policies, conducting events, and developing programs for sport or
fitness organizations. Includes extensive examination of the topics
and issues involved in the planning, funding, promotion, implementation,
and evaluation of events and programs.

Management Policies, Principles, and Regulations
in Sport
and Fitness |
3 credit hours |
Study of management policies and regulations to specific sport and
fitness organizations to include educational, athletic, commercial,
and corporate entities. Topics will include federal, state, and local
statutes, CHSAA and NCAA rules and guidelines, and professional organizational
policies. Specific attention will be given to compliance strategies.
The remaining three hours in the program should be BUGB 595
Internship, just as is normally required of all MBA students in the
professional track. However, we ask that the internship be performed
in a sport- or fitness-related venue so as to be more applicable to
the students= career choice.
