Athletic Taping, Wrapping, and Therapeutic Exercise
Our laboratory is full equipped to conduct research on athletic taping/wrapping and on the efficacy of therapeutic exercise. Visit the attached link to see an example of therapeutic exercise project (perturbation knee exercise). The description below is of a current project.
Hip spica wrapping does not affect leg angular moment but alters
knee kinematics during running
Investigators: Mindy Martinez and Jessica Fierberg, seniors in the athletic training education program
Hip spica wrapping is purported to compress muscles and may or may
not limit movement or alter limit lower limb biomechanics. Using surface
electromyography (EMG) of the quadriceps and hamstrings along with high
speed digital video analysis we are testing the hypothesis noted in the title
of the project.
