Graduation Information
All students must petition to graduate during the semester prior to the anticipated semester of graduation by completing an "Intent to Graduate" form at the Registrar's Office. Graduate students must meet with their faculty advisor, complete a programsheet, a graduation-planning sheet and get signatures from their advisor. Any additional forms needed are available from Mary Vail at the Graduate Office in Houston Hall. It is important to begin this process early in the semester prior to the semester you plan to graduate. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that all paperwork is completed by the appropriate deadline as shown below.

Graduation Instructions

Stop by the Registrar's Office:

__________ Pick up, fill out and turn in the "Intent to Graduate" Form

__________ Pick up unofficial copies of your transcripts for all the colleges attended

__________ Pick up the "Graduation Planning Sheet"

__________ Pick up a Graduation Survey and return within five days

Make arrangements and meet with your assigned advisor:

_________ Take the unofficial copy of your transcripts to your advisor

_________ Take your program sheet filled in as much as possible

_________ Take your "Graduation Planning Sheet" filled in as much as possible

_________ Your advisor will need to sign your program sheet. Be sure to work with your advisor as needed. It is ultimately your responsibility to make sure you have met the graduation requirements.

Optional Steps - Visit the Advising & Career Center and the Alumni Association

________ Visit the Advising & Career Center regarding help with resume writing, interviewing and the job search process.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THE "INTENT TO GRADUATE" IS SUBMITTED TO THE REGISTRAR'S OFFICE AND YOUR PROGRAM SHEET(S) ARE SUBMITTED TO YOUR ADVISOR BY THE APPROPRIATE DEADLINE.

  • The Registrar's Office will make the final determination in accepting your general education credits. Your advisor and department chair will approve your major coursework.
  • You must meet ALL the requirements as listed in the catalog year for your program sheet.
  • If your petition is denied it will be your responsibility to reapply for graduation in a subsequent semester.
  • Your intent to graduate does not automatically move to a later graduation date.
Your diploma will be mailed to the "Diploma Address" as provided on your "Intent to Graduate" form. If you have any address changes it is your responsibility to make sure that you notify the Registrar's Office.
  • Signing the "Intent to Graduate" authorizes the release of your name and address to Jostens and the commencement photographer. Jostens provides the cap, gown, and announcements. These two companies are contracted with MSC to provide services for the ceremony. Both have agreed not to use your name and address for any other purpose. If you do not want this information released, please contact the Registrar's Office.
