RN to BSN Program
RNs Can Complete a BSN in 2 Years!

Montrose Memorial Hospital Our online program for RNs wishing to attain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing began in fall, 2003 as an interactive program at a few sites, and has grown into an online program offered throughout western Colorado and even into Utah. Also, RN-BSN students may elect to attend classes on the Mesa State College campus.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are the courses be delivered?
The RN to BSN program is delivered via the internet, although some students choose to attend classes on campus.

When do classes meet?
Online classes are designed to allow you to complete coursework at any time during the week.

Do I have to attend classes in Grand Junction?
No. You can complete all BSN courses online. Most pre-requisites can be obtained from local community colleges, online, or via correspondence.

How long will it take me to complete my BSN?
The outreach program allows RNs to complete their BSN in two years attending part-time. Your progress on general education and program pre-requisites may add additional time to completion.

Can I transfer courses I've taken elsewhere for credit?
Yes. Contact your advisor for details on transferring courses. To transfer general education courses, submit a request to the Registrar's office asking for a transcript evaluation to approve of the course(s) you want to transfer. Discuss transfer of credit for nursing courses with your advisor.

What will it cost?
In-state tuition and fees are listed on the college web-site financial page. In addition you should plan on additional funds for books and supplies.

Are there scholarships available for RNs?
A number of scholarships are available for undergraduate students and some are specifically designated for RNs. Contact the Department of Health Sciences directly for scholarship applications or see if assistance might be available from your employer; some hospitals in the region offer scholarships and tuition reimbursement.

Can I meet with a nursing advisor?
A nursing advisor will meet with you prior to beginning the classes. Contact Kristy Reuss at kreuss@mesastate.edu or (970) 248-1398 for information about when an advisor will be in your area.

How do I get started?
•You need to complete a simple RN-BSN application and send it to us. Then you'll need to get   together with an advisor.
•Apply to Mesa State College. The fastest way is to apply online. You can also contact the  Admissions Office at (970) 248-1875. You will need to order transcripts of your previous college work  to be sent to the Admissions office. There is a form on the RN-BSN application to help.
•You'll receive a letter from Admissions regarding acceptance into the college, along with a "700"   student ID and PIN. These numbers are important as they allow you to register for classes, check   your grades, etc. Call or email your advisor, Kristy Reuss, when you receive your letter of   acceptance for assistance registering for fall courses.

What classes will I need to take to complete my BSN?
While it is in your best interests to have all the non-nursing courses completed prior to entering the program, it is possible that you may complete some of the general education courses while you are taking nursing courses. See Nursing Program Requirements for specific courses required.
