PRACTICAL NURSE
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
The Mesa State College Department of Health Sciences admits
30 students to the Practical Nurse program once a year in the
fall semester. Prior to being accepted into the PN program, students
must apply
and be accepted to Mesa State College.
The following non-nursing prerequisites and general education
courses must be completed prior to acceptance into the PN program.
The numbers in parentheses indicate the credit hours a student
earns upon completion of the course.
General Education:

NOTE:
All general education requirements are waived for those students
who have previously earned a Baccalaureate of Arts or Science.
General education requirements are waived for those students who
have previously earned an Associate of Science or Arts degree.
(This does not include either an Associate of Applied Science,
or an Associate in General Studies.)

**BIOL 209/209L and BIOL 210/210L must have been completed within
five years prior to applying to the PN program.
*** This course is counted with general education courses, but
is a prerequisite for the PN program.
NOTE: If the student
completed any of the general education or prerequisite requirements
at a college other than Mesa State College, please have official
transcripts sent to the
Registrar's Office at Mesa State College and request that
a transcript evaluation be done.
Once the student has been accepted into the PN program,
they must complete the following courses in sequence.
