in Grand Junction and Montrose!

October 1 of each year is the deadline to apply for priority consideration for acceptance into the LPN-AAS program. Applications received after that date will be considered on a space availability basis.

This program is designed for licensed practical nurses to achieve an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Degree, opening up greater employment opportunities, increased compensation, and more job security.

Students will develop nursing skills in caring for a diverse population in today's health care settings. They will utilize data related to the client's biological, psychological, socio-spiritual, cultural and developmental needs to promote, maintain and restore health.

The associate degree nurse takes the NCLEX-RN and becomes a registered nurse. The associate of applied science in nursing program prepares the student to be a technical nurse who has achieved a balance between general college and nursing education. The associate of applied science in nursing RN is prepared to be a direct care giver in hospitals, long-term facilities, and ambulatory care-clinic settings.

In order to be eligible to apply to this program the potential student must:

-Be a graduate of a state approved LPN program and have a license in good standing
-Current LPN work experience highly recommended
-Complete all general education and prerequisite courses
-Demonstrate college-level proficiency in reading, writing and mathematics
-Be IV certified
-Have current CPR card

The tentative class schedule for spring and fall is lecture on Wednesday's from 9:00a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Grand Junction Site clinicals on Monday and Thursday from 7:00-3:00 and Montrose Site clinicals Monday and Tuesday from 7:00-3:00. Summer lecture (8 week course) for both sites is Tuesday's from 9:00-4:00 and Wednesday's from 9:00-12:00 with clinicals on Monday's and Thursday's. There may be some evening clinicals throughout the course of the program.
