Bachelor of Applied Science
in
Radiologic Technology
This program is designed for radiologic technologists
with AAS degrees in radiologic technology to achieve a bachelor
of applied science in radiologic technology, allowing the graduate
to be certified in at least one additional specialty area in radiology.
This can lead to greater employment opportunities, increased compensation
and more job security.
Students will develop skills in advanced specialty
areas in radiology, cross sectional anatomy, advanced patient care,
radiology informatics and the business side of health care.
Certifying examinations in computed tomography,
magnetic resonance, cardio/vascular interventional technology or
mammography can be taken by the graduate upon completion of courses
and clinical competencies in the specialty area. Dual certification
will enable the graduate to find employment in general diagnostic
as well as in advanced areas of radiology.
In order to be eligible to apply to this program
the applicant must:
- Have an associate degree in Radiologic Technology
or equivalent
- Be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic
Technology or equivalent in radiography, radiation therapy, ultrasonography
or nuclear medicine
Admission requirements may change from year to year.
It is the applicant's responsibility to obtain the current admission
requirements. If the applicant completes the general education portion
of the program at another college or university, final transcripts
must be sent to Mesa State College to grant a degree.
The tentative course schedule is to meet at Mesa
State College on a Friday evening and all day Saturday at the beginning
and the end of each semester. The rest of the course work will be
done online.
It will be the responsibility of the student to
procure a clinical site for completion of the clinical aspect of
the course. Once established, Mesa State College must maintain an
affiliate agreement with that clinical site.
