RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY FACILITIES

X-ray Equipment in Campus Lab

The Mesa State College Radiologic Technology Program offices, classroom, and laboratory facility are located in Medesy Hall on the Mesa State campus. The building is easily accessible to both students and faculty through entrances located at the east and west ends of the building. These entrances are wheelchair accessible. Faculty offices are located in Medesy 149, 151, and 160. The majority of radiologic technology classes are held in Medesy Hall Room 172. The tiered lecture hall provides seating for approximately forty students. Two banks of four view boxes are permanently mounted on each side of the room. Adjacent to the lecture hall is an energized laboratory. The laboratory can accommodate a maximum of seven students for demonstration purposes. In 1997 the laboratory was redesigned and new radiographic equipment was installed. The laboratory features a high frequency generator, a heavy duty table with a four way float table top, and a vertically mounted cassette holder. The energized laboratory is in compliance with all Colorado Department of Health safety requirements and regulations. The x-ray tube assembly and generator are inspected annually. Other permanently installed equipment includes two banks of five view boxes and Frose anatomical charts. The laboratory also houses two fully articulated human skeletons, one disarticulated skeleton, a full body x-ray phantom, a breast phantom, an anatomical torso model with removable parts, and miscellaneous skull and vertebral components. The laboratory also hosts a wide assortment of cassettes, stationary grids, various positioning aids, and miscellaneous medical equipment. The darkroom contains a Konica SRX-101 cold water automatic film processor. A film storage bin and quality control devices are also available. The Radiologic Technology Program also provides materials such as radiographic film, processor and processing chemicals to provide the student with a full educational experience.
