Welcome to the Center for Teacher Education.

The Center for Teacher Education offers an innovative, holistic program of studies that leads to licensure in Colorado.  Programs are available in Early Childhood Education (birth to age 8), Elementary Education (Kindergarten through 6th grade), Secondary Education (grades 7-12), and K-12 education (for teachers of art, music, and human performance and wellness). We are currently seeking approval for a program in K-12 Spanish.

At Mesa State, we pride ourselves on the personal touch. Our professors are experienced, knowledgeable, accessible, and intensely dedicated to the improvement of public education. Faculty offer one-on-one guidance for course selection, field placements, student teaching, and employment.  Our motto is "Educators as Innovators," which means we are always looking for ways to improve the quality of learning in our programs and in the schools in which we work.

As a student, you will gradually accumulate over 200 hours of classroom experience before beginning student teaching. The well-regarded Mesa County School District provides opportunities to gain experience with children of all ages and backgrounds in a variety of school settings.
For those students who already hold a degree and want to teach, Mesa State has developed an exciting Post Baccalaureate Licensure (PBL) Program.

We encourage you to explore our site and to come visit our beautiful campus.
