The
Graphic Design program
focuses on industry standards set for prepress
production, Web design, illustration and animation.
Macintosh computers and the current versions of
Adobe Creative Suite and Macromedia Web design
software are incorporated into the Graphic Design
Maclab. Majors in Graphic Design are strongly
advised to purchase a Macintosh computer and corresponding
graphic design software in order to become more
individually proficient and productive. All Graphic
Design courses have prerequisites. Entering students
are encouraged to pay close attention to course
sequencing and consult with their advisor in order
to complete the degree in four years. During the
freshman year, foundation courses (ARTE 101, ARTE
102, ARTE 151, and ARTE 118) must be taken as
prerequisites for 200 level Graphic Design courses.
In consultation with an advisor, Graphic Design
majors are required to complete an off-campus
graphic design internship to gain first-hand experience
in the professional field.
