The Program
The Dance Department at Mesa State College has experienced explosive growth both in interest and participation in recent years. The Department receives immense support from the community and is complemented by several brand new facilities in the college's performing arts complex.

The new dance degree at Mesa State College is designed to prepare students in a wide range of dance disciplines. While maintaining the foundation training of ballet and modern, the program emphasizes the many styles of jazz and tap for those with an eye on a career in the
professional world of dance.

Curriculum provides courses in the background and understanding of dance forms, the creative process and the application at performance level.

Dance at Mesa State College is truly on the rise!

Guest Artists

The Guest Artist Program is an ongoing program which contracts outside professional choreographers and teachers to create dances for Mesa State students. Students are kept abreast of the latest trends and are provided contacts with the professional dance world.

Travel

Travel is a top priority at Mesa State College. The dance program is a member of the American College Dance Festival Association. Students in the dance program have travelled all over the United States to take part in festivals. Recent trips included Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Chicago and New York City.

Dance Facilities

The Mesa State dance program uses a suspended dance floor, a grand piano, video systems and a elaborate sound system. The space is large enough to present experimental concerts. Each year, two formal dance concerts are conducted in the 600-seat William S. Robinson Theatre. Additionally, experimental works are performed in the more intimate Mesa Experimental Theatre.
