Majors in the Applied
Professional Spanish track attend classes that strengthen
their bilingual skills across various professional disciplines
including: translation, interpreting, business Spanish,
and Social Services and Medical Spanish
Majors in the Spanish
Language and Literature track gain valuable insights
into the Spanish language and the histories and cultures
of Spain and Latin America. In addition, advanced students
go on to examine in depth specific genres (poetry, prose,
theater and film) as well as certain periods, regions, and
trends through representative authors.
Majors in the
Secondary Teacher Licensure track study diverse aspects
of the language and culture throughout the Spanish-speaking
world, various pedagogies, as well as linguistics, phonetics,
phonology, foreign language teaching methodologies, in addition
to the literatures and histories of Spain and Latin America.
They also gain experience through teaching in a variety
of classroom environments thoroughout the Grand Junction
area.
