Why should I join Phi Alpha Theta?
- It shows that you are an above average student who has excelled
in his/her studies
- It honors your academic accomplishments
- You will meet other students with interests similar to yours
- It provides you with leadership opportunities
What do I need to join?
- You need to have completed twelve hours (four classes) in history.
If you have completed three classes and are currently enrolled
in a fourth, that's o.k.
- You need to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 in
your history classes.
- If you meet the above requirements, fill out the Phi
Alpha Theta membership application and submit it with a $40.check
to one of the chapter advisors or one of the chapter officers.
Also attach an unofficial copy of your Mesa State College transcript.
The $40.00 is for a lifetime membership in one of the oldest and
most prestigious honorary society's in the nation!
What then?
- You get initiated! Most semester's our chapter holds an impressive
honorary society initiation. However, you are welcome to fully
participate in the group's activities before the official initiation.
Once you've filled out your application and paid your lifetime
dues, consider yourself a member in good standing.
What do we do?
- We sponsor historical activities, lectures, films with discussion
and commentary, field trips, and social activities. We attend
both state and national conferences. You may be as active in the
group as you wish.
