DOUGLAS A. O´ROARK
Associate Professor of History

B.A., M.A., Ph.D. (Ancient History), The Ohio State University.
Dr. O´Roark specializes in the social history of the Greek,
Roman, and Early Byzantine cultures. One of his research interests
is Classical Archaeology, and he has worked at a variety of sites
in Greece and the eastern Mediterranean. In addition to Western
Civilization survey courses, Dr. O´Roark teaches the following
upper-division history courses: Ancient Mediterranean World, Classical
Archaeology, Early and Medieval Christianity, Medieval Europe,
Medieval Eastern Europe and Russia, Renaissance and Reformation,
History of the Islamic World, and Senior Seminar. Dr. O´Roark
also teaches honors courses in Western Civilization and Fifth
Century Athens.
PAUL L. REDDIN
Professor of History

B.A., Adams State College; MA, Ph.D. (History), University of
Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Reddin´s main interests and areas
of specialization are the American West and 19th century social
and intellectual history. He is the author of Wild West Shows
and is currently researching topics on the American West and sports
history. Dr. Reddin teaches U.S. History survey courses, research
classes, Colorado History, Civil War and Reconstruction, Age of
Industry, and Modern America.
STEVEN C. SCHULTE
Professor of History

B.S., University of Wisconsin--River Falls (1977); MA, Colorado
State University (1979); Ph.D., University of Wyoming (1984).
Dr. Schulte´s research interests are American Indian history,
the American West, western politics, and American environmental
history. He is the author of Wayne
Aspinall and the Shaping of the American West (University Press
of Colorado, 2002). He teaches freshman level courses in US History
and the following upper division classes: The American West, American
Indians, Environmental History, Public History, and senior research
seminars.
C. ELIZABETH PROPES
Assistant Professor of History

M.A., University of Illinois in Russian and Soviet History; Ph.D.,
University of Mississippi (2003). Her current research interests
focus on antimilitarism, nationalism and citizenship in France
1870-1914. Dr. Propes' areas of interest more generally include
the European continent during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries,
and the development of European culture since the late Middle
Ages. In addition to surveys and upper-division courses on Modern
Europe, Dr. Propes will also offer courses on Africa and Asia.
More importanty, she loves dogs (especially beagles) and modern
art.
SARAH L. SWEDBERG
Assistant Professor of History

B.A., SUNY-Plattsburgh; MA, Ph.D., Northeastern University. Dr.
Swedberg´s research interests are Early American history,
the American Revolution, US Women´s history, women´s
and gender Studies, American social and cultural history. She
teaches freshman level courses in US History and upper level courses
in Colonial America, the American Revolution, US Women´s
History, Women in Modern Europe, and anything else that strikes
her fancy.
