While Mesa State College does not have a social work degree, the Human Services Concentration in Sociology serves the same purpose. Social work has been called "applied sociology," and such is the focus of this concentration.

In addition to the core sociology courses, students take counseling courses and are placed in an internship program near the end of their undergraduate education.

Click here for a listing of MSC´s degree requirements for a degree in Sociology with a concentration in Human Services.

Students majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Human Services find careers in social work, juvenile delinquency care, and a variety of other fields. This is also an excellent program for students interested in pursuing a Masters of Social Work degree.

For more information on these graduate options within the state of Colorado, see the University of Denver MSW webpage at http://www.du.edu/gssw/ or the Colorado State University site at http://www.cahs.colostate.edu/SSW/.
