The new Science Lab Building and renovated Wubben Hall
house Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental
Science, Mathematics, and Computer Sciences. Laboratories
are equipped with the latest computer systems, and excellent
safety equipment. Many classrooms and lecture halls have
internet access and are networked by the school's computer
system. The total cost for this science center was nearly
$13 million.

The Geology Program is excited to be housed in the new
science lab building and has excellent equipment for field
and laboratory activities. In addition, the GIS program
at Mesa State (overseen by Geology faculty) is housed in
the renovated GIS house. A house with a dedicated Soils
lab is also available for use. Some of the new Geology program
equipment includes:
A lab with Pentium PCs dedicated to Geology students.
Software packages such as ArcGIS and Pathfinder are available
for class activities and research.
Rigaku x-ray diffractometer, binocular microscopes, and
petrographic microscopes.
Access to a state-of-the-art SEM microscope.
Trimble GeoExplorer II GPS and Trimble Pro XR GPS units
allow students to learn in the growing field of GPS.
Rock cutting machines provide students and faculty members
to trim rock specimens and make thin sections.
John M. Shoales mineral display. Minerals and rocks collected
by John M. Shoales were donated to the MSC Geology Program.
These excellent and beautiful specimens are exhibited
in the halls.
The weather station is placed on top of new science lab
building. Students observe the changing temperature and
wind velocity.
