Facilities
The Geology Program is housed in a state-of-the-art, $10 million
science complex. A projects room is dedicated to the GIS program.
It is designed to facilitate classwork and research projects
in the design and construction analysis, manipulation, and application
of spatial databases, remote-sensing, and the latest in mapping
techniques. A new GIS lab provides a "hands-on" learning
environment. Students enjoy low faculty-to-student ratios.
Equipment Available at Mesa State
Pentium computers,
HP Plotter,
GPS instruments (PRO XR, 4 Geoexplorers) made by Trimble, which
allow integration of GPS data with GIS software with the capability
to create a database from precise locations, and
5 digitizer boards.
Computer software: ArcView GIS, ArcInfo, and Pathfinder GPS.
