FIELD-BASED STUDIES OF
LANDSCAPE EVOLUTION
IN WESTERN COLORADO
THE PROGRAM: Since
the time of John Wesley Powell, geologists have puzzled over the
origins of the spectacular landscapes of the Colorado Plateau and
Rocky Mountains. Join the Geology program at Mesa State College
(Grand Junction, CO) in a NSF-sponsored 8-week field-based study
of landscape evolution in western Colorado. You will receive a stipend,
attend professional conferences and field trips, and present your
project at the conclusion of the program.
PROGRAM DATES: May
21 - July 13, 2007
ELIGIBILITY: Geology
and Earth Science students who will be freshmen, sophmores or juniors
in the Fall 2007, and who will graduate later than Spring 2008.
STIPEND AND TRAVEL
ALLOWANCE: $2400 ($300/wk)
+ $1100 food allowance + free housing + roundtrip travel to Grand
Junction + up to $600 to travel to the 2007 (Oct. 27-31) national
GSA meeting in Denver.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
March 1, 2007. Applicants will be notified no later than March
