Nymphs can be identified by the following characteristics:

 

  • 3 leaf-shaped gills extending from the end of the abdomen.
  • Large scoop-like lip (called labium).
  • Dull color.
  • Slender body shape.

 

 

 

 

Adults can be identified by the following characteristics:

 

  • Long slender body.
  • 2 pairs of transparent wings.
  • Wings are extended during rest.
