The Little Mavericks Learning Center provides a service to Mesa State College students, faculty and staff, by providing quality child care with a balanced curriculum geared to the age and developmental level of each child while providing a practicum lab opportunity for students at Mesa State College.

At Little Mavericks Learning Center, we understand that children who come to our program are individuals with different learning styles and various levels of development. Little Mavs provides experiences that enrich each child's cognitive, social, emotional, physical and creative development.

Girls coloringParents are always invited to become involved in their child's activities at Little Mavs. Moms and Dads are encouraged to participate in classroom activities and come along on field trips. Lesson plans are posted so parents can provide positive support for new experiences at home. Monthly sessions are offered for parents to learn more about child development issues and share ideas and information with other parents.

Parents can feel confident that their children are receiving quality care while they are attending class or working. A professional educator is working daily with the children to monitor academic and developmental progress as a partner in meeting a child's individual needs and interests.

Each child has the opportunity to create and explore their environment and learn problem solving skills while developing personal interaction skills. These all help build a foundation for future academics.

Little Mavs has different programs for Toddlers, Preschoolers and Pre-Kindergarten

Little Tots and Toddlers
Mini mav

Little Mavs accepts children in the toddler room at 12 - 20 months and walking. Children who are 20 - 35 months and potty trained are admitted to the Toddlers room. The Little Tots and Toddlers have the opportunity to explore their world in a safe and loving environment through interactive play with peers and staff. Quiet areas are offered for little ones to get away and play or rest alone.

Preschool

The Preschool Classroom is open to those children who are 2-1/2 and potty trained to 4 years old. Children participate in hands-on activities designed to enrich the child's overall development. Playing and being a kid is the most important thing in Preschool.

Pre-Kindergarten

Pre-K is available during the year prior to entering public/private school. Learning centers help children develop pre-reading, writing and math skills. They also develop skills to help them function in a large group setting, and foster independent thinking and problem solving.

Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack are served. The State of Colorado Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP) guidelines are followed. Monthly menus are posted. We also work with parents if a child requires a special diet.

Parents are welcome to send treats to celebrate a birthday or special occasion. Little Mavs also sponsor some events throughout the year. There is an open house, a Fall Festival, Thanksgiving Feast, Spring Social, end of the year celebration and book fairs.
