Emergency Student Contact Services

The Office of the Vice President of Student Services and Outreach serves as the primary referral point for students who need to be contacted due to a critical emergency. Our office number is 248-1366. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Determining messaging for "emergencies" while students are in class will be handled on a case by case basis. It is important to note that we cannot guarantee a contact with any student due to their highly mobile behavior, but a good faith effort will be made. Keep in mind that we are not a messaging service for non-emergent situations. Our office would like to recommend that you provide your family members/day care providers copies of your class schedule, cell phone numbers and/or pager number.

Depending on the type of emergency, a message will be delivered to the faculty member or work supervisor asking for the student to be dismissed and to:

  1. Immediately contact the source of the message or;
  2. Immediately proceed to the Vice President of Student Services and Outreach office for pertinent information.

As a reminder, in the event of situations which present imminent danger on campus, the most appropriate call would be of course 911. A follow up call to the Vice President of Student Services and Outreach office (970-248-1366) would be appreciated as we typically try to follow up on situations which may impact the academic pursuit of a student.

Students should consider purchasing a pager, cell phone or messaging service allowing for immediate access for those who need to reach you regarding your children and/or personal needs.
