The Mesa County Criminal Justice Services Department (CJSD) provides a variety of alternative sentencing programs and services to the local criminal justice community. The Department, with approximately seventy employees manages over two thousand offenders in the community and is one of the most successful community corrections program in the State of Colorado.
Programs within the department work closely with other agencies, including, Division of Youth Corrections, Parole, Probation and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Services include residential community corrections, educational programming, substance abuse treatment; in-patient as well as out-patient treatment, sex offender treatment and domestic violence treatment. Services are also provided to the local courts, which include pretrial supervision and monitoring individuals on bond.
Full time career and paid internship position are available, as well as on-call positions for individuals looking for field experience or while attending college. Students interested in the field of criminal justice, law enforcement, education, counseling or human services will be exposed to a large variety of opportunities that include work with adults and youth and families with this diverse department.
