Policies for Recruiters

Employer Criteria for Assistance

The following policy is established to determine eligibility of an organization to participate in Advising & Career Center activities and events at Mesa State.

Advising & Career Center Sponsored Presentations

Advising & Career Center of Mesa State sponsors individuals and organizations on campus for the purpose of educating students about career opportunities and internships. As sponsors, Advising & Career Center exercises the proprietary right of setting the following criteria for such events:

  • The presentations are open to Mesa State students and alumni who are seeking career information and opportunities.
  • We reserve the right to request identification and to verify its authenticity.
  • Distribution of materials inside the event will be at the discretion of the presenter(s).
  • Attendees are expected to conduct themselves in a non-disruptive manner. Disruptive behavior includes, but is not limited to, blocking others' access, solicitation of signatures on petitions, accosting those in attendance, and wearing disguises.

Policy regarding Network Marketing Organizations

The Advising & Career Center of Mesa State considers organizations engaging in one or more of the following practices to be network marketing organizations:

  • Sponsorship of an individual in setting up his/her own business for the purpose of selling products or services and/or recruiting other individuals to set up their own business.
  • Requirement of an initial investment from this individual, with the organization itself serving as an umbrella or parent corporation. The initial investment may be direct payment of a fixed fee, payment to attend an orientation or training session, and/or purchase of a starter kit.
  • Compensation is often in the form of straight commission, fees, from others under their sponsorship in the organization, and/or percentage of sales generated by others.

Network marketing organizations are not considered "employers" by the Advising & Career Center of Mesa State and are not eligible to participate in any of our activities to include career fairs, internships, on-campus interviewing, resume referrals, vacancy announcements, employer presentations, or sponsorship for on-campus activities. A network marketing organization can contact the Campbell College Center at 970-248-1414 for further information about coming on campus.
