The Associated Student Government (ASG) of Mesa State is a student
run, student fee funded organization that oversees both the allocation
of student fees and the organizations that receive said money.
It is made up of three branches, all of which consist of student
enrolled at Mesa State. The student body elects the senators,
as well as the ASG President and Vice President, in the fall and
spring semesters, while Supreme Court Justices and Cabinet Members
are appointed by the president and approved by the senate.
The senate votes on a large range of issues including funding
requests and approval of academic matters. ASG allows the students
of Mesa to relate with the Grand Valley. Interaction with local
and national legislators, community service to groups who need
support and gaining a better understanding of the community are
all important functions of ASG. However, ASG's first concern is
student issues. It handles a wide spectrum of student issues,
such as safety, education and recreation. ASG exists to better
the college experience for all those that attend Mesa State.
