March 5 " Go Slow on Oil Shale!
The plan for commercial oil shale development is out, and it comes
at a time when Western Colorado is already experiencing an energy
boom. The impacts from a potential commercial oil shale industry
would have permanent effects on air, water, wildlife, climate
change and local economies/growth. Please join Joe Neuhof and
Luke Schafer of the Colorado Environmental Coalition for a look
into the impacts a future oil shale industry would bring to our
communities and an overview of the plan. Our communities have
already seen one boom that ended in disaster in 1982 on 'Black
Sunday,' and we are going to ensure the Federal Government does
not rush into another dire situation this time around.
