Wellness Office

What is Wellness?

Wellness is an active, personal approach to making lifestyle choices in the following areas: cultural, emotional, environmental, intellectual, occupational, physical, social and spiritual. Each individual assumes personal responsibility for their quality of life. The Wellness Office emphasizes the physical dimension of wellness.

Mesa State Wellness Benefits Program

In January 1997, the Wellness Benefits Program was established with major support of President Michael Gallagher. The purpose of the program is five fold:

  1. Increase awareness for each student/faculty/staff member's health via a fitness assessment;
  2. Provide student/faculty/staff members activity programs to improve/maintain their current levels of fitness;
  3. Provide invaluable hands-on experience for Kinesiology majors who conduct the fitness assessments, data analysis, and fitness program design; and
  4. Expose student/faculty/staff members to the healthy on-campus environment of the Student Recreation Center.
  5. Recognize and reward student/faculty/staff members who exercise regularly and meet certain criteria (The Fitness Club).

The first step in the Wellness Benefits Program is to register for a fitness assessment. Complete the enrollment form and return it to Campus Recreation Services today!

Please call 248-1591 or email Bob Anthony for further information.
