Questions About The Fitness/Strength Training Areas

What hours are the Fitness/Strength Training areas open?
This area is open whenever the Student Recreation Center is open.

Is there someone there to show me how to use the equipment properly?
We have a trained student staff member who can answer questions, demonstrate proper technique and use. During the busiest times of the day, this student staff person will be located in the Fitness/Strength Training area. Other times of the day, you will need to ask assistance from the Information Desk.

How many workout stations do you have?
Forty-three total stations, of which twenty-five stations are cardiovascular equipment.

Why don't you have more free weights in these areas?
The free weights are located in the Saunders weight room, located in Saunders 011.

What is the dress code for this area?
All participants must wear gym shorts or sweats, a shirt, and athletic type, non-marking shoes.

Why can't I wear jeans while lifting?
Jeans have a tendency of tearing the upholstery that covers the seats, backs, and benches. Therefore, we require all participants to wear gym shorts or sweats.

Do you provide workout towels?
Yes. Just ask for a workout towel at the Information Desk. It is expected that all used workout towels are returned each day before you leave the building so they can be laundered and issued to other students later in the day.
