Structured Research Projects
Planned
For Summer and Fall, 2001
1. Colordado River Terraces: This project is in joint cooperation with Dr. Andres Aslan's Colorado River Project where landslides and slumps are being analyzed and studied.  We will do GIS/GPS surveying  of the terraces along the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers.  Plans include conversion of the data into 3D using ArcView GIS software
2.  Grand Mesa Project: This project is part of the Quaternary History of Grand Mesa with Drs. Cole and Aslan.  We will do GIS/GPS surveying of the area and prepare DEMs for conversion to 3D in Arciew GIS software.
3.  Coate Creek Magnetic High:  A strong magnetic anomoly in the northwester part of the Uncompahgre Plateau recognized in the 1980 National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) aerio-magnetic map is believed to be associated with magnetic sources in the Precambrian rock of the area.  Plans include geophysical and GIS/GPS mapping in the area to pinpoint the location of the anomoly at ground level.  You do not need geophysics knowledge to take this structured research course.
