With adoption of House Bill 1093, sponsored by Colorado State
Senator Ron Teck and State Representative Gayle Berry, Mesa State
College has a new governing board effective July 1, 2003.
The new Board of Trustees consists of nine voting and two non-voting
members. The voting members are appointed by Colorado Governor
Owens, confirmed by the Colorado State Senate and serve staggered
terms. The College faculty and student body each elect one non-voting
member to serve two- and one-year terms, respectively. The Board
generally meets monthly.
The College President is appointed by and reports to the Board
and is responsible for day-to-day management of the campus and
its employees.
Until the new Board has an opportunity to review and modify existing
policies, those of the former governing board, the Trustees of
State Colleges in Colorado, remain in effect.
The Colorado Commission on Higher Education is the policy and
coordinating board for the State's higher education system including
Mesa State College.
