ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
Student Services Advisor

DURATION OF CONTRACT: Full-time twelve-month contract

EXPECTED STARTING DATE: June 16, 2008

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Advisor is a member of the Student Services team at WCCC and will make on-campus and local community presentations to prospective students, answer phone inquiries, counsel walk-in traffic, and participate in staff meetings.

Responsible for maintaining records, identifying demographic trends, building relationships with high schools and community colleges and other prospects through e-mail, web, phone, visits and direct mail.

Works with WCCC and Mesa State College offices on recruitment, advising and enrollment activities, such as open house events, visitation days and student orientation. Demonstrate knowledge of activities relating to the recruitment and retention of all students.

The Advisor shall perform preliminary financial aid, scholarship and career counseling with all audiences and maintain a high awareness of WCCC and MSC admission requirements. Assist college and high school students with advising and course registration. Coordinate and participate in WCCC campus visits and facility tours for prospective students, parents, schools and community members.

Assist students in the application, interview and enrollment procedures. Utilize effective interpersonal skills, work independently and in teams. Advisor must maintain confidentiality at all times relating to campus policies, protocols, and student records.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Ability to learn and apply computer technology to enhance productivity in the workplace, public speaking experience. Position typically works 9-6, M-F with evenings and weekends as needed. Some travel within a 100 mile radius is required. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and have, and demonstrate strong customer relations skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: One year of experience in higher education admissions, program planning, and recruiting
